HELP THE FARMERS - Connecting Schools and Farms

Watching the news tonight and there was a segment about the farmers not being able to harvest their yield. Some farmers are even willing to double their offer in paying potential employees to have their yield harvested. It is sad to hear about food not being able to be harvested because of the lack of workers. The other end some people in Australia being paid a multitude for doing nothing. It is best to encourage those who seek employment to go to those farms and work but it is difficult to get people to work particular jobs. Alternatively, a program should be organised with schools and farmers across Australia to promote seasonal excursions and have students travel to these farmers and help harvest the yields. This would be ideal to ensuring food to not be wasted and students would have an educational experience and schools can have a supply of fresh food seasonally. There are similar programs around the world. I just think especially at a time like this during a major pandemic it is ...

THE CITY I WANT

Long I have resided in Sydney, being born and raised here has conditioned me to have specific expectations of what the city should be. My ideal city is a place where I should be able to walk by everyday and smile at the marvels and gifts which the city has to offer. Like every offer there will always be a trade-off. Realistically, Sydney is not perfect and there will always be some insensitivity, like the way a particular house is built, how someone drives and even the complexities of socialising. However, we can always do our best to be more courteous and empathetic, we can express judgement all we want, loudly or quietly. At the end of the day it is what gives this city its character. I want a city where the spaces are sufficient and efficient i.e. all spaces utilised and not abandoned to a mere existence. I want a city where the spaces give people opportunities to have good health and prosper together. I want a city that respects the people who make it their home, and people to resp...

FANWAY

(Image Source: Daily Telegraph) Previously, I was talking about my general life before FANWAY. Now, how did I come about finding FANWAY? Another question you might be asking, why is it called 'FANWAY'? Let's begin, as I was working in local government for some time, planning activity started to slow and tasks were becoming limited. The year is also 2020, the year of bushfires, COVID-19 pandemic, Black lives matter protests, and political disputes. Also during this time I stayed home and  was working from home which made it tricky to work and communicate with fellow colleagues, family and friends. In the midst of all the unfortunate circumstances I thought to myself about finding better ways to help others, to ensure them a sense of stability, safety and fortitude. With my experience and skills in planning I believed that I can provide a service that would be better towards helping other overcome challenges in their daily lives. As a Strategic/Town planner in local governmen...

ABOUT ME

(Image Source: Building Designers Association of Australia) Hi Everyone! My name is Yee Lian, I was born in Australia with a Cantonese cultural background. I am just an average bloke who grew up attending primary school, high school, played the occasional sport like footy, cricket, tennis and swimming, computer games and sitting for the HSC. For those who don't know what HSC stands for it is 'Higher School Certificate' which was an exam that determined Aussie student's position towards entry into University. Well, it was from this point, the HSC, that started making huge a change in my life. While still in my teens, entering adulthood I started University, in 2013, studying Tourism Management. While studying I hung out with my mates, worked at my part-time jobs and so on. 3 years later, 2016, I complete my tourism management degree and graduate. After graduating, I decide to continue studying and pursue a Masters degree. At the time I was working as an Accounts Assistan...
